Healthy Blue Medicare Plans And Coverage In Louisiana

If you qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, we offer three Medicare Advantage Dual Eligible Special Needs (D-SNP) plans in Louisiana. Explore D-SNP options and shop plans in your area.

What Is Medicare Advantage (Part C)?

Original Medicare provides Part A (hospital/inpatient) and Part B (doctor visits/outpatient) coverage. It does not cover prescription drugs (Part D) or dental, vision, and hearing1. That’s where a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan comes in. It covers all of Original Medicare, and our plans also include prescription drug, routine dental, vision, and hearing coverage as well. That’s why Medicare Advantage plans are often referred to as “all-in-one” plans.

What Is A Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP)?

A Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan is a type of Medicare Advantage plan for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid.  We offer three HMO D-SNP plans. It’s the only type of plan Healthy Blue offers in Louisiana. All are Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans, which means you will have to stay within our extensive network of doctors and hospitals for care2.

Looking For A Different Type Of Plan?

We have you covered, even if you don’t qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Visit the Blue Advantage website to learn more about our HMO and PPO Medicare Advantage plans.

1Original Medicare Parts A and B do cover some prescription drugs in certain situations, such as drugs provided in a hospital or inpatient facility during a covered stay. The same holds true for certain dental, hearing and vision care if they are deemed medically necessary. However, in general, Original Medicare does not cover prescription drugs or routine dental, vision, and hearing care.

2Out-of-network/non-contracted providers are under no obligation to treat Plan members, except in emergency situations. Please call our customer service number or see your Evidence of Coverage for more information, including the cost-sharing that applies to out-of-network services.
